HINT: If you received a formal notice of foreclosure, if a foreclosure sale was ever scheduled or published in the newspaper, or if a lawsuit to conduct a foreclosure sale was ever filed, then your loan would have been accelerated.
NOTE: “Acceleration” means the bank or its agent sent you notice that moved the future maturity date of your loan to the present such that all loan amounts are due and payable immediately.
IMPORTANT NOTE: An acceleration notice could come from a local law firm stating that your loan was accelerated or “is hereby accelerated.” Many acceleration notices are combined with a notice of default that states that if you do not cure the default by a certain date your mortgage loan “will be accelerated.” It must say “will” or “shall” be accelerated. If it says “may” be accelerated, then you must look for a later notice.
